A major part of our health is driven by the energy in and around us. These vibrations influence not only our mental and emotional experiences but our physical health as well. A simple example of this is when we encounter someone who feels like they are draining us. After being around them, we feel sad, low, and even tired. This is known as an energy vampire and long term can create chronic negative influences to your health.


Protecting your energy and warding off the energy vampires is an important part of health. By using techniques we apply daily and incorporating energy medicine into our preventive care protocols we can boost our energy and protect our health. Taking it a step further, by attracting and generating energy that is positive can have a positive influence on your health and well-being.


How to Maintain and Protect Your High Vibrations Around Energy Vampires


Be Mindful of Your Energy and Inner State

We cannot always avoid people who have a low vibrational energy or are going through a situation that results in negative energy around them. We can however, be aware of our own inner state when interacting with them.


Realizing your own feelings and emotions as well as how that other person's energy is influencing your own is key to navigating these situations. We can be supportive, empathic and encouraging to them while protecting our own vibrational energy health.


By asking yourself, how you feel in this moment and repeating this question throughout the interaction we can gauge the changes in our own energy field. It can help us know when we're reaching that limit when we must step away or change the direction of the interaction. It can also help us be aware of when we are absorbing another's energy so we can be proactive in addressing the changes we are experiencing.


Set Boundaries and Detach

This is specifically important when we have relationships that we cannot avoid or minimize contact. Say its a work situation where we must interact with a co-worker who is constantly complaining but we have to work on a project with them.


When interacting with the individual, set boundaries that protect your energy. This can be done by limiting your time with them when possible so you don't bring their negative energy into your own. Where that is not possible, emotionally detaching yourself from the situation is necessary. This doesn't mean you do not care but it lets you be in control of the interaction and accept the situation without emotional involvement. You can continue to vibrate at a higher frequency without guilt or being overwhelmed in the situation and interactions.


Take Care of Your Energy

When you interact with energy vampires, even when you do so successfully, it is still necessary to recharge your own energy.


  • Get out in nature

  • Take in natural light

  • Eat a highly nutritious meal

  • Schedule an energy medicine service like mud-packing or chakra balance session

  • Rest

  • Hydrate

  • Express gratitude


Check Your Personal Accountability

Taking responsibility for how you feel is important. It is also important to recognize when you are feeding into negative energy that expands the situation. If you find yourself feeling negative or feeding into it, acknowledge and take steps to mitigate it. This is not only emotionally mature but also empowering to stay aligned in your own energy.


How to Not Become an Energy Vampire

If you are the energy vampire in your situation or feel that you are at risk for becoming one, these steps will help you reset your energy. You'll notice some similarities in the steps with some different action items.


Be Mindful of Your Mindset

To be mindful of your mindset you must first acknowledge honestly how you are feeling. That is not always comfortable but being able to recognize our feelings and process them in a healthy way is the best way to reset our own energy and not let negativity fester.


Taking meaningful action to ask yourself how you are feeling in different situations and working through the processing of feelings takes time to master.


Go Inward and Do Shadow Work

Setting healthy boundaries with yourself can help but ultimately we want to heal from our own negatively. By doing the work in Shadow work which involves journaling, uncovering the things we have long since buried and processing those old feelings we can emerge feeling lighter in our feelings.

Hold Yourself Accountable

We are all human and we will not always express or experience our best positive energy. When it happens, hold yourself accountable and accept responsibility. Apologizing can be therapeutic and healing. Saying the words aloud also allows us to process it and start the path to resetting our energy.


Holding ourselves accountable does not mean punishing and berating ourselves either. It is simply asking for our acknowledgement that we could have done things differently, apologizing if necessary, and moving forward with grace. These are sometimes not comfortable situations but absolutely necessary for our healing and release of energy vampires that are potentially hurting our relationships.


Trace the Underlying Cause

I believe we also need to look at the real reason we feel as passionately about the things that we do. The things that invoke such strong emotions from us, specifically anger, are stemming from deeper rooted feelings, thoughts, and experiences that are left unresolved. These strong emotions are held in the liver region of the body. They not only cause discourse on our emotions but our body as well.


An area that is easy to see this displayed is in how some people develop rage over differences in political opinions. Elections seem to bring out our worse rather than our best it can seem. Yet the same is true of what is occurring in the body and emotions in these situations. There is something in the liver that is triggering and the body is releasing it through anger, violence, and rage. On a societal level we see this all the time and demonstrates the need for healing on a larger level that goes beyond alignment of political viewpoints. This is bodily healing on a personal level from things being held in our person that are working against the homeostasis state the body thrives on.
