The Daily Grind

Work is hard. Doesn’t matter what you do for a living, it can be difficult to navigate a work day.

Today’s work culture is complex, demanding and unforgiving. Liking or loving your job helps but there are days when even that is not enough to deal with the stress.

Here’s some tips that I’ve adopted to help make it more balanced for me at work.

Centered and Balanced

Wouldn’t it be nice if every day at work was a pleasant stroll through a pretty garden with sounds of singing birds instead of screaming bosses and ugly cubicles?

Start your day off with a drop of Balance on each foot. This oil helps you center your emotions and stay neutral. It is an oil that helps ground our feelings and focus our intentions to our larger purpose.

Try it in the morning, 1 drop bottom of the feet.

Emotional Check

Known as “the oil of truth” Frankincense helps us reveal and remove deception and falseness. It supports our desire for knowledge and wisdom and connecting our inner soul to our daily lives. Frankincense helps us listen to our inner voice and feel guided, protected and nurtured.

Place 1 drop of Frankincense on your finger and then rub it under your tongue. It will taste weird at first but quickly you will realize this is a daily habit worth keeping.

Negative Stress Impacts

How often have you found when you are going through something particularly stressful for a time you end up sick?

When we are under constant stress for prolonged periods of time this can start to impact us physically.  We take on the sensation of “fight or flight” from that stress as our bodies try to protect us and prepare for what may be coming next. Over time this can wear down our immunity because our bodies are not resting or releasing from the “fight or flight” level of stress often enough to repair and restore itself. We are more susceptible for illness, disease and long term physical implications like blood pressure and diabetes.

Sometimes we cannot avoid the situation we find ourselves and we must endure these highly stressful situations longer than we would like or need.

Sleepless Nights

Sleepless nights seems to be a norm when things aren’t going well in our lives, particularly after a difficult day at work. We spend our nights exhausted but unable to sleep as events from the day roll through our head on continual replay and we think of how best to deal with things the next day. We toss, turn and watch the clock dreading what is next.

In the morning we are more tired from the lack of sleep and inability to call in for the day. Our heads hurt, our eyes are red and we feel physically beat up.

During these times, it’s crucial to try to find a way to disconnect. We need to rest as it is the only way we will be able to effectively deal with our day. I realize how hard this can be and have found myself struggling with it too when it comes to work.

Serenity is an oil blend that supports relaxation and sleep. When you are in the middle of a work war zone and unable to sleep using this oil or the softgels helps. Tips to try:

  1. Sit comfortably in a quiet space and take several deep breaths. Focus on your breathe and let all else go as much as you can. Repeat as often as necessary through the night.

  2. You can also try this lying down with your hands on your chest and stomach. Close your eyes and continuing focusing on 1 breath at a time. Breathe as deeply as you can and exhale slowly. As soon as thoughts start to enter your mind, restart with a new breath.
